A rare trip southbound for us this time. There is a wealth of real ale pubs in the city of St Albans, including one of the oldest pubs in England.
Choose to have the whole day in St Albans or opt to go on to Hertford, a pretty riverside town. Alternatively, you could hop on a cheap and quick train from St Albans into London if you wish.
