There are a growing number of breweries, large and small, across Leicester and Leicestershire. Their ales can be found and enjoyed in many local pubs and at beer festivals.

Anstey Ale | 46A Albion St | Anstey
Anstey started as a one-barrel, part-time garage plant in 2015. It became full-time and upgraded some equipment, later moving to new premises and increased plant size to 2.5-barrels in 2017. On-site taproom, the Mash & Press, opened in 2019 in conjunction with Charnwood Ciders (Tuesday-Sunday). Beers are occasionally available at local freehouses. A new brewery is currently under construction in Loughborough.

Charnwood | 22 Jubilee Drive | Loughborough
The one with the pointy-nosed fox. Charnwood are a 10-barrel brewery established in 2014. The Loughborough site features a tap room, but beers are available throughout the county and also from an on-site shop. Numerous seasonal and special brews.

Micro-brewery set up in 2001, named after a local bridge where Watling Street cross River Avon. There’s definitely a Roman theme going with their beer names, too!

Established in 1999 and recently rebranded indie brewer based in the Langtons. Langton offer a number of premium craft beers (Jabber and Pow Wow) as well as seasonal brews.

Parish | 6 Main Street | Burrough-on-the-Hill
A true Leicestershire marvel. Set up in 1983, Parish was one of the first micro-breweries before the word had even been invented. The brewery is located next to Grant’s Freehouse, which stocks the full range of beers, including the famous Baz’s Bonce Blower.

The West End Brewery (or WEB to its many friends) was Leicester’s original brewpub when it opened in 2016, selling beer made on the premises at busy Braunstone Gate.
