Volunteers needed to deliver the Leicestershire Drinker

    LEicestershire drinker front cover

Our popular Leicester Drinker magazine will be returning in May 2022 and we have got together with Hinckley, Loughborough  & Melton Mowbray branches to relaunch as a new countywide “Leicestershire Drinker”, available from pubs throughout Leicestershire & Rutland.  Click here for details on how you can submit news & articles and information on advertising.

We do urgently need volunteers to distribute the forthcoming edition of our relaunched Leicestershire Drinker magazine., particularly in the Market Harborough, Kibworth & Langtons, and Queniborough Wreake Valley areas.  Each round typically involves taking magazines to around 10 pubs.  If you are able to help please email editor@leicsdrinker.camra.org.uk

The May edition will come out at the end of April and further editions will follow every quarter. Any help will be appreciated and the more volunteers the lighter the load will become.

We are also looking for new advertisers, so if you work in a business that would be interested in supporting the new magazine and benefit from its wide distribution, please go to https://leicsdrinker.camra.org.uk/advertise/ for more information or email the editor.

  • Club of the Year 2020

A belated presentation took place on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 at the Syston Social Club. The club won the award after votes from Leicester branch members and the winners were announced at the 2020 Leicester Beer festival. Unfortunately, that was just two weeks before lockdown and we have only just managed to get the presentation done.

  • Leicester Beer Festival news

As you my have seen, CAMRA have cancelled the Great British Beer Festival (Winter) which was scheduled to take place in February 2022. This follows on from the announcement that Manchester, which was also due in February, being cancelled, and many other branches either cancelling or postponing events due to the current uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID pandemic.
As a branch we have reviewed the possibility of holding a beer festival in 2022 and believe that with the loss of our venue, the ongoing high infection rates and now uncertainty surrounding new variants, trying to organise a festival in 2022 presents a significant financial risk to the Branch and CAMRA in already difficult times.   Regardless, being entirely run by volunteers (many of whom have full time jobs), put quite simply, we feel we have run out of time to be able to find a new venue and successfully deliver the festival we would want to put on for you all.
We are exploring other options to provide some smaller festival(s) but nothing has been agreed yet.  Please watch our social media and website for events as they are arranged.
